Search by location
If you are motivated by where a job is rather than what industry it is in, you can use our location search. You can enter a location either by postcode or by name (town, county or district). We have made this easier by including a suggestions list, when you begin typing. These suggestions are from the location list in our database, and do not indicate that there are jobs in that location currently on the site. If you type in a location we do not recognise, or you misspell it, we will try to match it as closely as possible.
Once you have selected your location, you can specify a distance around that location depending on how far you would be prepared to commute.
Keyword searching means you can search for a specific word or string of words among the jobs we have. This is useful when you have a specific job title or skill you are looking for. The best words to use as search terms are those that usually only appear in the title or description of the jobs you are looking for. If your line of work requires a particular qualification or skill, using terms like ASP, HGV or ACA can quickly find relevant jobs. Please note that common words such as 'it', 'the', and 'of' cannot be used for searching.
You can also combine words using AND, OR, and AND NOT.

finds jobs adverts which contain both the words 'training' and 'development' , but not necessarily next to each other
sales OR marketing
finds job adverts containing either the word 'sales' or the word 'marketing' , but not necessarily next to each other
web AND NOT designer
We have a huge number of phrases in our suggestion list, but if the phrase you wish to search for does not appear, you can put your phrase in quotes “ “ to search for those words in that order only, anywhere in the job description.

If you want to find all the variations of a word, you can do so by using an asterisk after the 'stem' of the word.

finds jobs containing words that begin with the letters 'devel', for example 'developer', 'development', 'developers', etc.
If you prefer to browse through our list of jobs you can do so. You can browse by location, or by job role. Simply click on the 'Browse jobs' link in the navigation and make your selection. If, for example, you choose to browse by location you are shown a list of broad UK regions to look in. When you make a selection you are shown all jobs within that location.
If you choose to browse by job role you are shown an extensive list of roles which you can navigate through alphabetically. Simply click on the letter of the alphabet that you want and you will be shown a list of all the job roles we have that start with that letter. Click on a job role and you are shown all jobs we have for that role.
In this section you can find information on companies which advertise with CWJobs.co.uk. Current job vacancies and contact details are displayed, along with a more detailed company description when available. Information may vary according to the company. You can either search alphabetically using the letters on the page or by selecting an industry from the list.
To search alphabetically, click on a letter, and all the companies whose names begin with that letter will be displayed. If you select an industry category, then all the companies whose main lines of business fall within that category will be displayed.
The CWJobs.co.uk salary checker enables the user to compare their salary to the average for that type of job in a given region, within the job roles listed. From the drop down lists, select the location you want and then the job role that you currently work in. You will be presented with a page of job types with in that job role, displaying average minimum and maximum salaries both for the location you specified and nationally. From here you are able to see live jobs for any of these results by clicking on the 'Show me these jobs' links on the right hand side of the page.
This area of the site allows you to get CWJobs.co.uk working for you, even when you are not logged on to the site. Here you can set up Jobs By Email (JBE), a Jobseeker Profile and lots more. See help on My CWJobs.
Job basket is a feature which allows you to store jobs you are interested in, while you are viewing job results or job details pages. Once you have finished viewing your results, click on the ‘view basket’ link, and you will see the job basket page. This page is divided into two sections. In the first section are all the jobs that you can apply for in one go, thus saving you time. In the second section are jobs that must be applied for individually because the recruiter has specified a different apply process.
Your job basket only remains for the time you are on the site and will empty as soon as you move off the site or close your browser. You can only store up to 20 jobs at any one time.

Employment Agencies and Employment Business Regulations 2003
Jobseekers and recruiters need to be aware that this job board operates as a venue only and does not introduce or supply work-seekers to recruiters (or vice versa). This means that we do not:
- obtain sufficient information for potential recruiters to select a suitable work-seeker for the position which the recruiter seeks to fill;
- obtain confirmation of the identity of a work-seeker or that they have the experience, training, qualifications or authorisation to work in the position to be filled or that they wish to undertake the role to be filled;
- take any steps to ensure the work-seeker and recruiter are each aware of any requirement imposed by law or otherwise which must be satisfied by either of them to permit the work-seeker to fulfil the position to be filled;
- take any steps to ensure that it would not be detrimental to the interests of the work-seeker or the recruiter for the work-seeker to fulfil the position to be fulfilled;
- give any indication to recruiters whether work-seekers are unsuitable (or suitable) for any position to be filled in any circumstances;
- propose work-seekers to recruiters or provide any information about them.
- take up any references in relation to a work-seeker; or
- make any arrangements for accommodation of work-seekers.
The Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Business Regulations 2003 (the "Regulations") seek to ensure that work-seekers are only proposed by employment agencies for roles for which they are properly qualified and that recruiters are only offered work-seekers who have the appropriate levels of experience, training, qualifications and authorisation for the position to be filled. Since we are only a venue and do not propose or introduce work-seekers to recruiters or vice versa, it is recommended that, if you are a work-seeker you undertake the steps set out in the Regulations to ensure your suitability for the role advertised or, if you are a recruiter, to ensure a work-seeker’s suitability for the role.
These could include:
- If you are a work-seeker; checking the identity of the recruiter and the nature of its business, the commencement date and duration of the position, the position to be filled including type of work, location, hours and risks to health and safety, experience, training, qualifications and authorisation which the recruiter considers necessary or are required by law or otherwise to undertake the position, whether any expenses are payable by you as a work-seeker or whether there are any requirements imposed by law or otherwise for you to satisfy before taking up a position.
- If you are a recruiter; checking the identity of the work-seeker and that the work-seeker has the experience, training, qualifications and authorisation required by law or otherwise for the position and whether there are any requirements imposed by law or otherwise for you, as the recruiter, to meet to enable a work-seeker to take up a position.
In addition, where professional qualifications are required or where work-seekers are to work with vulnerable persons or children, you should obtain copies of the relevant qualifications or authorisation, obtain at least two references from people who are not relatives of the work-seeker and undertake a criminal records bureau check of the work-seeker. Apply using an application form
Some recruiters prefer you to apply for their jobs using a predefined process, usually involving an application form. In order to apply by this method, you will need to download the recruiters' document(s) from our site, using the buttons provided. Recruiters who use this method will usually provide guidance notes as to their application process, which may be one of the documents you will need to download. The recruiter also has an opportunity to provide some instructions for applicants, which you can find in the "How to apply for this job" panel on the download page.
