Technical Architect - Internet E-commerce integration, with some depth in one of the following SOA technologies: WebSphere, BizTalk, EAI, Oracle Fusion, CAPS.
Should have good understanding of SOA technologies, and experience of architecting client facing Web services capabilities for areas such as order processing/online shopping, diary booking, credit card payments, customer self-service etc. Experience of building other leading edge client facing Web services experience in areas such as online gaming or auction may also be pertinent.
This client is a leading B2C parcel business; its future is about supporting their Clients with their own multi-channel supply chains. Whether their customers order at POS, Internet or Call Centre, whether the product is on the shop floor, a warehouse or a third party, whether the product is going to be collected at a store or received at home, this company needs to support them in delivering their customer promise.
So their future requires:
- Client driven IS strategy generation
- Standard industry leading products
- Integration from order point to after sales
- Pervasive MI richness for Clients and the in house operation
- Client and Customer self-service
They therefore intend to build up their team working on the direction and oversight of their technology architecture. In the short term the priority is refresh of the platform, and in the longer term the close working with Clients to leverage the capability.
People in architecture roles will be required to perform a range of tasks and develop aptitudes:
- Customer Experience Design - how will it feel at every step
- Logistics Process Design - business process architecture, the six sigma way
- Retail Integration Architecture - from POS to .com
- Mobile Applications - what happens on the road and the doorstep
- Internet Architecture - the growth market, M-commerce next
- Formal IS Strategy - an agreed roadmap for each Client
- Technical Design - whatever needs to be done to ensure it gets done right, you know right?
- Innovative bid and account growth solutions
Some of the areas they are working on right now include:
GPRS, GPS, HHT, Oracle Fusion, SOA, Customer Communication (SMS, email), Transport Optimisation
Good customer experience is important as part of the role will be to advise its customers how they can better integrate with their own customers, often interacting and advising client solution designers. Any retail or distribution/warehousing/logistics experience would be an advantage.
