DBA SQL Server – Global End Client

We currently have a fantastic opportunity to join a worldwide leader in its field. Our multinational client based in the French speaking part of Switzerland (Geneva, Lausanne) is now looking for a SQL Server Database Administrator.

MISSION
As a DBA SQL Server Specialist, you will have to provide MS-SQL Server database support by ensuring monitoring, data integrity and recovery capabilities, through the implementation and respect of the Globe standards and guidelines.

As such you will be in charge of:

- Implement the required MS-SQL Server (SQL 2000 & 2005) databases, according to the standards and to the specifications given by the clients, on standalone servers as well as MS clusters (Windows 2000 and Windows 2003).


- Maintain merge, transactional or snapshot replications (setup, conflict resolution, troubleshooting), with other SQL Server or Oracle databases.

- Implement and support DTS and SSIS packages.

Ensure availability and performances by proactive monitoring of databases, and tuning on demand.

- Control completion and availability of backups, to ensure maximum availability of the databases, and capability to recover from a database failure.

- Ensure that physical space requirements are in place by monitoring installed capacity versus required space.

- Setup and maintain clustering solution for SQL Server

- Propose solutions for continuous improvement (clustering, backups, monitoring improvements, auditing)

- Ensure 3rd level support on deployment, upgrades and technical issues on DBMS.

- Organize periodic knowledge sharing with offshore team

- Organize the planned interventions to be done by offshore team.

- Write and maintain runbooks, to be used by offshore team.

- Advise on all databases related matters in order to improve efficiency or to improve business requirements.

PROFILE

The successful candidate has a degree in Computer Science or Business Administration with several years experience in a large, complex and international environment.

You will have 4 years of experience as SQLServer Database Administrator.

You will have key skills in:

- SQL 2005 & SQL 2005
- Backups using TDP
- Database Tuning
- SQL
- Windows 2000 & 2003 server
- MSSQL on clusters

The knowledge of Oracle would be an advantage.

You will be team spirit, service oriented, and should be result focused, and have curiosity.

Fluent English is required. French or German will be a plus.
