We’re the market leader in providing IT Solutions to the UK Education sector, and our online assessment services division are seeking a talented Lead C# / ASP.NET Developer to join us in delivering our award-winning solutions. Based at our Abingdon HQ, the role will involve working throughout the development lifecycle to lead and deliver highly innovative online assessment and marking products which will revolutionise the way high-stakes assessment and marking (e.g. GCSEs and A-Levels) are delivered. You’ll be using cutting edge technologies including C#, ASP.NET, SQL Server, Web Services to work on solutions such as technically complex workflow and image management solutions. The role:

  • Leading the development of enterprise-level business-critical development projects, using technologies such as C#, ASP.NET, SQL Server, XML, AJAX, and Web Services.
  • Ownership of the whole solution, managing technically-complex development projects from design to implementation.
  • Working closely with RM’s customers to understand and analyse their requirements and designing technical solutions which best meet these.
  • Taking responsibility for high-level design, and subsequently planning and project managing business-critical development projects.
  • Mentoring and managing small teams of developers through the software development process.
  • Working closely with the test team to support product testing and ensure smooth transition to the live environment.
  • Proactively staying up to date with developments in technology to ensure the team continues to deliver cutting edge technical solutions.

The individual

  • Of graduate calibre, with a strong background in full-lifecycle software development, with experience of formal methodologies being beneficial.
  • Experience of developing on the .NET platform using C#, ASP.NET, XML, Web Services and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • A proven track record of delivering technically complex commercial solutions on time and to specification.
  • Experience of acting as the Senior Software Engineer, Lead Software Engineer or Technical Lead on projects would be advantageous.
  • Formal Microsoft qualifications such as MCP, MCSD, MCAD, MCTS, MCPD, or MCA would be advantageous, however RM is happy to support to candidates wishing to gain these certifications.
  • Strong problem solving and team working skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
