As part of an expansion of our ISP division, RM is seeking Network Specialists with a strong technical background in Linux / Unix or Cisco to join us in support and developing the technical infrastructure which millions of our education-sector users rely on every day. With over 1000 servers and 20 data centres, our mission-critical infrastructure is technically complex and encompasses solutions such as email, web hosting, web filtering, web chat, portals, firewalls and the largest global implementation of SharePoint in the world to date. You’ll be proactively managing and supporting our Internet-related infrastructure, maintaining high-availability of services and contributing to key projects such as new roll-outs, change controls and the resolution of live faults. The size and scope of our infrastructure means that you can expect a truly varied role, with the chance to develop skills in a whole host of technologies, including Cisco Switches, Cisco Routers, Cisco IOS, Linux (RHEL4), Firewalls such as PIX & Firewall 1, TCP/IP, DNS, POP, SMTP, SNMP, proxies, email servers, PHP, MySQL, Apache, Tomcat, SharePoint, Virtualisation, VMWare, storage solutions and SAN technologies. Naturally we’ll ensure you have excellent technical training to help you develop your skills, and you’ll also have the opportunity to gain certifications such as the CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, Linux+, RHCT or RHCE.
You should be of graduate calibre with a strong background in supporting and developing UNIX / Linux or Cisco network related infrastructure as well as having an exposure to internet-related technologies such as TCP/IP, DNS, proxies and email servers. A strong communicator, you’ll have great problem solving skills, and the desire to deliver excellence in proactive support and maintenance, customer service, and technical projects. You’ll be able to demonstrate a flexible approach and the ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment.A proactive attitude and a passion for learning new skills and technologies are also crucial.
