Skills:-
- Degree Educated - Ideally 2.1 or 1st (or equivalent)
- 5yrs minimum commercial experience in a Testing role (including experience as a Performance Tester)
- Extensive experience testing under UNIX / Linux.
- Solid experience testing Web/SOAP/REST applications
- Demonstrable talent coding in at least one major language (Perl, Java, C, Python, C++ etc)
Description:- Working for an international, rapidly expanding software house on leading edge ecommerce/Web Projects as a Performance Tester you will Liaise closely with Development and Product Management to better understand the software product capabilities and requirements, capture and document required performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) for the product under test and perform scheduled nightly systematic and careful performance tests (See below for more detail).Applicants must have a strong background as a Performance Tester in a Unix / Linux environment and have experience of coding in at least 1 main language.

Responsibilities for the Performance Tester
- Liaise closely with Development and Product Management to better understand the software product capabilities and requirements.
- Capture and document required performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) for the product under test
- Write test scripts in Java and Python to model performance of the product.
- Perform scheduled nightly systematic and careful performance tests.
- Provide continuous and detailed performance metrics and analysis to Development and Product Management.
- Identify and document performance bottlenecks in the software.
The Performance Tester must have
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
- A bachelor’s degree (1st or 2:1) in computer science, engineering, or information systems from a well-regarded university.
- Experience testing Web/SOAP/REST applications
- Demonstrable talent coding in at least one major language (Perl, Java, C, Python etc)
- Extensive experience testing under UNIX/Linux.
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP network fundamentals
The ideal Performance Tester candidate would also have
- ISTQB-ISEB Certified Tester Foundation Level Certificate.
- Agile test development experience.
- Database experience (any vendor).
- Experience using version control systems (Subversion, CVS, etc.)
- Experience with LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) testing
Salary will be between 45 and 55k + bonus + good benefits
