.NET Ecommerce Developer (C#, ASP.NET, Amazon Web Services, London)My E-commerce client based in Central London is looking to hire a Senior.NET contractor with experience of running an E-commerce or transactional business on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
They are looking for a developer with recent experience of running a commercial website based on a .NET and SQL Server platform on Amazon Web Services (AWS). You'll need to have an in depth knowledge of several of the services that AWS provides. You'll be using EC2 (including VPC, auto-scaling and Elastic Load Balancers), CloudWatch, IAM and S3 among others and you'll need to be confident in recommending when and how to use different services appropriately.
They need a developer who can help identify - and then solve - the issues involved in keeping our platform highly available as we move to AWS. You should be comfortable describing how you would run a SQL Server instance in the cloud and keep it both reliable and fast or how you can manage a fleet of EC2 instances to deal with failures and increases in traffic. But most importantly, you should have already have done these things and have the stories to share with us.
Ideally, you will have been involved in running an E-commerce website on AWS but the critical factor is that you have run a business on AWS where every minute of downtime hurts.
You'll have an advantage if you have any experience of Ruby (including Rake) and Platform as a Service providers such as Azure, Heroku or Google App Engine.
What you would be doing
- Identifying and implementing changes required to our E-commerce platform so that it runs fast and reliably on the infrastructure that AWS provides.
- You will be working with C#, ASP.NET WebForms and MVC websites, Windows services, SQL Server 2005 and 2012 databases, HAProxy, Windows 2008 R2 & IIS 7.5 and more.
- Sharing your experience of how to best use the services that AWS provides in order to keep our platform highly available
