The role will involve working co-operatively and consultatively with all aspects of Teachers business . The role has no management responsibility and works within defined procedures and processes and SLA’s. Internal contact will be with all Teachers departments. External contact will primarily be with the outsourced IT service providers Abtec.

Key Responsibilities:

Administer and maintain a Help Desk System on a continuous daily basis

Responding to Support Desk emails and phone callsand respond to requests for support in order for the requests to be resolved in a timely and efficient manner

Prioritising calls against agreed SLA’s

Promote to supplier where appropriateto maintain the integrity of the infrastructure

Administration, investigation & follow up of problems/faults arising on systems with relevant suppliers where necessary

Analysing call logs to spot trends and underlying issues

Making new & upgraded software available to users, training when necessary

Ensuring that adequate testing of software is undertaken before going live

Maintaining system parameters as requested

Running daily/monthly/yearly/ad-hoc system processes

Running archiving & security back-up routines

PC, printer & telephone control, to include fault fixing, logging of software & hardware, & ensuring that items are covered by warranty/maintenance agreements

Be aware of the Society’s risks at all times and act within the Society’s reporting guidelines

Maintain servers within virtual environment using with WmWare

Maintain and support Citrix thin clients

Maintain Active Directory user accounts, groups, logon scripts and Group policies

Administration of Exchange environment

Network configuration and routing management

Administration of secure web gateway providing SSL VPN access for remote working

Anti-virus and Spam filter management

Support and maintenance of Oracle and SQL Server database

Maintain bookings for ICT loan equipment (cameras, projectors, laptops etc).

The dispatch of faulty equipment to suppliers for repair; follow up these items to determine their status.*

Maintain knowledgebase of IT procedures, processes, and instructions.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL EXPERIENCE

Awareness of operating & application systems

Knowledge & understanding of parameters within the Summit system

Basic administration & maintenance Unix , Oracle/SQL, NT,HTML

Wider knowledge of Summit & its functionality

Experience of Tableau or willingness to be trained on analytics tool

Previous experience of providing IT Support potentially Desktop, Helpdesk or Service Desk based.

Microsoft Windows Operating systems (Windows xp, 7)

Microsoft Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2012

System Administration of Sun Unix Server

Exchange Server 2003, 2007, 2010

Intel desktop and laptop hardware components

TCP/IP, DHCP, LAN, WAN networking principles and Ethernet network components

Network Printers

Telephony and mobile devices

Familiar with virtualisation platforms (XenServer, ESXi)

Knowledge of IIS, and web server integration

Familiar with Cisco Switches/Routers
