Location - Manchester

Its an exciting time for the Vodafone Network and the Dedicated Services team provide an essential service to a key customer that is Scottish Power.  As a Project Engineer, you will report to the Field Services Manager and provide professional strategic network expertise in management and delivery of network installations and troubleshoot, resolve and monitor faults within the customers various networks.

This is a key customer facing role, operating within a joint Vodafone and customer (Scottish Power, Energy Networks) technical Communications team.

You will liaise with Scottish Power staff, Vodafone internal technical groups, field engineers and external customers to deliver all activities within SLA timescales.
You will be expected to effectively operate and integrate into a customer environment showing strong interpersonal skills and a high degree of enthusiasm.

Note that you will be expected to undertake a percentage of travel to customer and network sites therefore a driving license will be required.  A commercial vehicle is provided as part of this role.

Your responsibilities will include:

•Complete major communications installations within the customer’s premises and various substation environments
•Liaise with customer for fault resolution
•Troubleshoot and resolve faults
•Complete network reports and analysis when required
•Work to customer billing milestones critical to project completions
•Requirement for out of hours work participation in a standby rota

As a Project Engineer your Qualifications, Skills and experience will include:

•Capable of working to 2nd line support level on PDH, SDH & Radio Communications environment
•Structured approach to fault finding in complex networks
•Understanding of network management
•Must be PC literate and competent with Word/Excel/Visio/ MS Project
•Track record of successfully prioritising simultaneous activities within time scale and budget
•Initiative, decisiveness and self-motivation
•Self-motivating individual with the ability to develop strong customer relationships as well as functioning in a team environment
•Strong interpersonal negotiating and communication skills
•Commitment to meeting customers’ expectations
•Ability to manage complex customer interfaces
•Planning and managing of risk in a support or project environment
•Ability to produce reports and manage “special investigations”

The Technical skills and knowledge required for this role:

•Proven track record in the installation and support of DC Chargers, PDH, SDH & Microwave radio technology’s also copper and fibre networks 
•Some knowledge and experience of the following Vendor equipment – Nokia, Comtel, Alcatel, Cisco
•Some knowledge of high voltage substation environment 33kv-132kv 
•HNC in Telecommunications (or equivalent) preferred
