This is a desk-based role however some travel to client sites and other Atos offices may be necessary.

The successful candidate will be a key member of a centralised team providing 3rd level Wintel support for numerous clients contracted to Atos. Support services are provided out of our key strategic Data Centres as well as customer sites. This is a very busy, fast paced environment with the team ensuring that the service provided to clients meets the established Service Level Agreements and quality standards.

Additional and on-going product training will be provided. Career development opportunities are also possible.

The main purpose of this role is to provide input to the development, maintenance and operational support of specific client infrastructure, systems and associated software.

Key operational responsibilities include:

Investigate and resolve incidents
Liaise with software and hardware suppliers
Plan and undertake changes to software/hardware as agreed with the client (in accordance with ITIL change management process)
Assess user requirements and formulate technical specifications that are cost effective and accurately meet the clients identified needs
Install and test operating software and associated products in conjunction with application providers
Contribute to the implementation of new and modified systems in conjunction with clients to achieve identified benefits
Implement and maintain a standard methodology for the planning and installation of infrastructure
Prepare and produce systems documentation in accordance with Atos processes
Provide technical input to internal project teams, both within and outside own functional area
Maintain up to date awareness of developments in the IT industry and identify how appropriate ones could be applied to client organisations
Ability to build rapport with client representatives, Service Managers and Account Development Managers in order to identify and develop new opportunities
Undertake project management, quality assurance and leadership responsibilities for projects when required
Use appropriate methods to provide coaching to junior staff within the area and help with the induction of new recruits

Job Requirements


Essential skills:

Demonstrable skill and experience in one or more of the following technical areas
- Network configurations and protocols - DNS, WINS, IP and routing

- Database systems - SQL, Access, Oracle

- Client/server architecture

Competent level of knowledge and experience of specific infrastructure support services
Knowledge of algorithms and methodologies for developing, building and configuring a system and network
Knowledge of Thin client architecture and structural components
Awareness of hardware technologies including IBM, HP and Dell plus blades
Knowledge of SAN Technologies, especially HDS and EMC
Knowledge of operating systems - Windows NT 4.0, 2000, 2003 and 2008
Knowledge of Citrix Metaframe and presentation server
Knowledge of Microsoft Server Applications - IIS, Proxy, SQL, ISA, Exchange and SMS
Knowledge of third party backup and management products - Computer Associates TNG, HP SIM & RDP, CA Brightstor, Symantec Antivirus, Netbackup
Competent conceptual understanding of virtualisation and specific products like VMware ESX
Proficient system management skills
Ability to structure and create technical documentation
Ability to work to a high degree of accuracy with attention to detail
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work in an effective manner
Ability to communicate with stakeholders, colleagues at all levels on a day to day basis via telephone, email and face to face
Proficient analytical skills with the ability to define the precise nature of customer problems and delivery of proactive troubleshooting
Ability to conceptualise problems
Ability to work well in a team
Ability to provide front line supervision and coaching to staff
Ability to appraise and quality assure the work produced by others
Desirable Skills:

Experience of working with third party suppliers
Experience of operating a test environment or working in project teams, both as member and leading
Ability to contribute to the definition and structuring of projects
