This is a software development role based within the Development division of the business. The Software Developers are involved in every stage of building the next generation of financial trading applications. As the Software Developer your software will form part of a world-leading suite providing real-time data display, electronic market access and workflow automation. As the Software Developer you will deliver resilient, high performance trading solutions to a rapidly changing marketplace. The Software Developer role would ideally suit a developer with approximately 1-5 years' experience.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience of full software development lifecycle, from design through construction and testing
  • At least 1 years' experience developing software
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Clear, accurate and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise own workload and adhere to deadlines

Skills and Knowledge:

  • This is primarily a C++ role for server development but successful candidates who are experienced in other similar technologies such as Java or C# will be offered cross-training if necessary
  • Knowledge of financial markets for equities or derivatives is an advantage but is not essential
  • Ability to work independently with low-levels of supervision

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design software solutions to meet business specifications
  • Produce maintainable software components that operate as part of a large multi-process system
  • Unit test software components to verify behaviour and resilience
  • Perform functional testing of the system on a full installation that replicates real world use
  • Provide content for functional and technical documentation
  • Review and constructively comment on the software, testing and documentation of peers
  • Help peers by sharing expertise in your primary development area
  • Apply technical expertise to investigate and resolve customer software issues
  • Work both independently and in close collaboration with others in the team and across the business
  • Effectively plan and schedule own work for tasks and projects
  • Communicate the progress of tasks to create an audit trail to ensure a clear understanding for relevant parties
