Windows Systems Administrator– Brighton - £35-40k
Leading provider of general insurance, underwriting and Lloyds of London affiliate services are currently looking for a broad skilled Windows Systems Administrator to join a small team providing 3rd line support to 50 users in a web based development environment (.net, IIS, SQL Server 2005). The team is responsible for the stability and integrity of the internal and managed client production environment and systems.

This role is ideally suited to a technology enthusiast who has worked in a small organisation providing a wide range of support but predominantly focusing on Windows Administration (PC and Server technologies, Networking, Hardware and software, General application configuration and support, Messaging, Active Directory, Backups etc).
This is a highly varied role that offers the right candidate a fantastic challenge, training in the insurance industry and exposure to cutting edge technologies in the development arena.
The day to day responsibilities of the successful Systems Administrator, Infrastructure Analyst, 3rd Line Support, Engineer, Server Administrator, Operations Analyst, will include:
·Direct Responsibility for maintainingcore IT systems, including the server platform (VMware vSphere 5), email (Exchange 2010) and Active Directory (Windows 2008).
·Providing 2nd– 3rd Line Support for internal and external Customers
·Provisioning servers for development teams and managing server lifecycle.
·Working with Customer Relationship Team to provide presales support for server hosting opportunities
·Maintaining desktop and server systems so that they are made available and stable at all times
·Monitoring key systems and performing proactive maintenance
·Ensuring helpdesk tickets are kept updated and sufficiently detailed
·Creating and updating documentation
·Keeping system downtime to a minimum and performing occasional out of hours work if necessary.
·Liaising with hosting providers and other third parties
ESSENTIAL SKILLS for the position of Infrastructure Analyst, 3rd Line Support, Engineer, Server Administrator, Operations Analyst / Windows Systems Administrator
·VCP certified 2 years +: Day to day maintenance and upgrade/implementation of vSphere 4/5
·5 years +: Implementing, maintaining and supporting Windows desktop and server operating systems; XP, 7, Server 2003, 2008 and 2008 R2
·2 years +: Workingwith Active Directory and Group Policy on a daily basis and have a thorough understanding of associated best practices
·2 years +: Day to day administration of Exchange 2007/2010
·1 year +: Administering and Implementing SharePoint 2007/2010 Farms.
DESIRABLE SKILLS for the position of Infrastructure Analyst, 3rd Line Support, Engineer, Server Administrator, Operations Analyst / Windows Systems Administrator
·Have previous experience of working with software development teams and understand the concepts of defect management and version control
·HP Server hardware, particularly blades
·ISA 2004/2006 and Threat Management Gateway 2010
